How to attach rubrics to your Assignment/Discussion

To attach a graded rubric from the rubrics tool into either your assignment or discussion your rubric must first be set to published in the rubrics tool or else it will not show up when trying to select it.

Select Activities > Assignments

 

Click on the dropdown arrow next to the desired assignment and click Edit Folder

 

Your should now be in the Properties Tab. From here scroll down until you see the heading Evaluation and Feedback

 

Make sure to add the total score of the rubric in Score out of and attach the Grade Item if you assignment has one. Once these are done click on “Add Rubric“.

A pop up should now have appeared with the list of published rubrics. Select the rubric you wish to use and then click on “Add Selected

If your rubric does not appear on this list please go back to the rubrics tool and make sure your rubric is set to “Published”

 

Once attached, you can click on Save and Close.

Attaching Rubrics to Discussion Topics

Select Activities > Discussions

 

Find your discussion form containing your discussion topic

Next, click on the dropdown arrow next the discussion topic and select “Edit Topic“.

 

Now that you are in Edit topic, click into the Assessment tab

 

 

In the assessment tab attach your Grade Item if you have one and give the total score of the Rubric you are attaching in Score out of. After this click on the “Add Rubric” button.

 

 

A pop up should now have appeared with the list of published rubrics. Select the rubric you wish to use and then click on “Add Selected

If your rubric does not appear on this list please go back to the rubrics tool and make sure your rubric is set to “Published”

 

 

If you are marking the discussion posts with a rubric, do not tick the “Allow assessment of individual posts” checkbox .

Now click Save and Close.
